can anyone tell me what did yamaha do when they changed the jetting, im not sure what year they did, but i was just looking at tech pages and saw the jetting for 98 srx is..#1 and #2 are 146.3, and#3is 148.8 ... the 01 srx is #1-150, and #2and#3 is 148.8 ,,, i guess the question is why is #1 and 2 the same on 98 and #2 and 3 the same on the 01??? did they change the hot side i thought it was always mag side .. a buddy brought this to my attention and someone please help were both kinda scratching are heads..

THATS BEEN ASKED HERE BEFORE, I DO KNOW THE CHANGE IN 2001 WAS BECAUSE SOME 2000 WERE HAVEING PROBLEMS ON LONG LAKE PULLS. THAN IN 2002, DCS WENT BACK TO 00 JETTING. I KNOW DOSE NOT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION. 3:16 (yammie tony)
Yamaha brain fart occured. Going over my 2000 SRX piece by piece, I see they tended to fart a lot.

yeah this is puzzling , im confused, i see posts about the 01 carbs being jetted the best of all, why is the bigger jet on the opposite side of motor ?

i believe this is because of the change in the ignition, the cylinder that lights first is the hottest... 3d ign changed in 01 which is why the how side switched...

sounds good to me,, im still puzled why there are several posts about 01 carbs having best jetting.. so i took my 01 rack and put it on my 98,, and 600 mi she blew the mag cyl. maybe i just found out why..

Yea, but the mag side would still have the same jet?

the question goes on since they changed which cylinder fires first, does this make the first firing cylinder #1 which is cyl #3 on the 98?

i forget but someone explained to me at some point with the new ignition the cylinder (coil) thats closest to the power sparks a short time sooner making it the hotter cylinder...
someone would have to chime in that knows for sure

was explained to me that pto side generates more heat longer pipe to the can and as we know fuel cools oil lubricates just my 2 cents

i thought that the first cyl to fire was the hottest, always been mag side , but that also has to do with, being closest to mag meaning less wire/draw, making it hotter but now im confused.
