My project sled had a brown head after it overheated...
SO I decided to paint it with high temp paint. I used the Dupli-Color 1200 deg paint. (with ceramic)
Do you think this will last? OR just start flaking off and making a mess in my engine compartment??

when they get that hot the head can distort. you need to check for warping.

As long as you preped the head right, sanding and cleaning, the paint should stick fine and the temp range is good.

I took some time to clean it up. Took the wire brush and scotch-brite pad to it. Then spayed it down with brake cleaner.
I ran a metal straight edge across the head and it checked out within specs. Should be good to go!

looks good and it should last I think. and if it checked out in spec then it sounds like you are fine.

I did prep the head before painting and masked all the machined surfaces....
