O.K Boys what is the hands down best way to save sliders from eating away.
My 2000 700 SRX has a 144 mountain max kit and it eats sliders for breakfast. They ware right down to the change line a couple of trip out!!

use the good hp sliders, they also make maginal snow kits that lower the idler wheels a little(or use bigger wheels), it also helps when you choose your next track to make sure it is open and clipped every window. check track tension also, most srxs are prone to having to have them run really tight, but you want to run the track as loose as you can without the track jumping on you when you do wholeshots and such.

Can you show us where they are wearing out?? Wheel kits will help as well as a looser track.... need more info such as riding conditions?? Do you break them in??
Bender has what is called a speed kit, it's basically oversized idlers.

x2 on the oversized wheels , but in my experience sliders last a long time, heat them up then dip into the snow to cool them.(while on the trail)
-sliders wear out very fast to a certain point , and then seem to stay there for quite some time

hyfax on my 600 is 3 years old now..still look brand new..I use over sized wheels and scratchers. My SRX they are 2 years old now..still good, wore down only one spot ahead of the front idlers.I have marginal wheels also, but between them and the first idlers it wears and then stops. Also have scratchers on board.I think they make a huge difference also with all that snow and ice flying back into the track.

X2 on the scratchers. They made a big difference in hyfax life since i started using them. Chris

Scratchers work in most conditions, a plowed road that has been sanded is not good for using the scratchers. I managed to toast a set of hyfax in 10mi this winter, front to back. Adequate snow is the best solution to hyfax wear and the amount of snow required increases as track lug height grows. 11 yrs ago avg track height was 3/4 to 15/16 with mtn sleds at 1 1/2. Today trail sleds are 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 and mtn sleds are 2 to 2 1/2.

I added the small marginal snow wheels to the slide rail just ahead of the stock idler wheels. I also added the Pioneer idler wheel offset kit which moves the stock idler wheel position down by 2 millimeters. Since I have made these two mods to my 00 SRX and 03 RX1, I can get well over 3000 miles on the hyfax slides with no problem. I am going to add a set of ice scratchers to the skis of bothe sleds for next season. They will help with hyfax lubrication and cooling.
Replace all the 5.125" wheels w/ Polaris wheels 5.375" and SRX Rear wheels. Along w/ a marginal wheel kit at the bend. The last two seasons w/ same Hyfax. 1.25" x 136" Ripsaw this year/ .75 x 136" track last year.
I know there is a type of hyfax out there that has a melting point of 700F or something like that. Can remember who makes them, but i do remember that they are expensive, like $150 expensive but they would probobly last a life time. Wish I had more info on these, you'll have to look them up for yourselves.....

Hyperfax, they are close to 190 a set. Work great, but I would worry about sand in them for trail use. I sold my yamaha set for 90.00 used, as I switched to polaris rails, been tough to find a polaris set used.

I'm gonna say get Scratchers, if you don't already have them, they will help alot!!! I highly recommend them. I can relate, they wear down way to fast, but just like Chris ,They made a big difference in hyfax life since i started using them.

Thanks for the great info. They wear just before the front idlers. I'm going to try the over sized wheels.
To the OP: How tight do you run your limiter straps?

i've seen people drill small indents into hyfax before installing(this can be done while on the machine also) it allows ice and snow to pack into the indents and when you reach a bare ice spot or long section of bare road, the ice/snow melts giving some lubrication. caution doing this, rocks can get in there and ruin track clips

what would cause a hyfax to get sucked down the rail??? my 02 srx is running the no-action skid and it sucked one hyfax about six inches off the rail.

missing the screw in the front that anchors the hyfax to the rail
