95 vmax 600 twin...stud let go and ripped the front exchanger...is there enough cooling with the tunnel and rear exchangers to bypass the front?

My neighbor had that happen to his ski doo. He cleaned up the spot really well where the stud went through and put J B weld on it. It did fix it and stop the leak. You could try that and make sure it doesn't leak. May fix it.
The front heat exchanger is where most of the cooling occurs. I wouldn't run without it unless something else was used in place of it.

You can get by without the rear in good conditions. Absolutely not without the front though...

I can tell you I have repaired a few yamaha sleds over the years by removing the skidframe and track, drain the collant and flush out ssystem very well to remove antifreeze. Then stand the sled up on the rear bumper and lean it up against the wall. wash the area well with brake clean and compressed air, then tig weld the hole. It will save ALOT of work changing it out.

The stud that did the damage must have hung on to the track because it isn't just a puncture...it ripped thru the heat exchanger and into the steel behind it...I tried JB weld with no success. Do I need to remove the belly pan to get at this?

Take a look at the parts diagram for the sled, it will be helpful in determining what parts need to be removed. Post some pics and the TY memebrs will advise on how to repair the damage.
