I have a 1998 yamaha srx 700 i was riding across the lake this winter and it just startd overheating s i would shut it off let it cool down and then ride a little bit then it would over heat before i got it to to the truck i was riding and it seemed to loose a lot of power so i shut it off it has never started again it has no compression in the middle and right cylinders i took the jugs off the piston and ring is completely in tact nothing looks wrong with it at all any help is appreciated i will post pics of the engine.

YOU MIGHT NEED TO REPLACE THE HEAD O-RING GASKETS AND I WOULD GET A NEW THERMOSTAT FOR THIS SLED. ALSO, CAN YOU MOVE THE RING IN PISTON ? 3:16 (yammie tony)

rebuild time..PSI on average is 120 psi..open her up.order parts as needed.Get down to opening cases and then post back what uyou have found..add pics also.

There is a little more to it then just snapping them on, find a friend that has more experience and do it together. This will help you learn without making a costly mistake.

Good luck

VERY GOOD ADVISE. THIS IS NOT LIKE TIEING YOUR SHOE. RING HAS TO BE LINED UP AND THAN CLY HAS TO BE LOWERD DOWN. REALLY DO NEED TWO SETS OF HANDS. IF YA LOOK AT RINGS, YOU SEE SMALL ENDS THAT LOOK LIKE A GROOVE. THESE HAVE TO BE CLOSED AGAINST PIN INSIDE PISTONS. VERY VERY CRITICAL HERE TO DO THIS RIGHT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

AND don't put the rings in upside down either..you will know if you do because you won't be able to compress ring to slide back into cylinder..learned that one during my rebuild. :2strokes:
