This all started with my wifes v-max 700 dlx. and the annoying resonance the exhaust puts out at lower rpms.
In an attempt to fix it, I tried the pipe off my stock 02 Viper. It fit the motor and chassis easily and I was able to squeeze in the Viper silencer also far enough to start it.
The viper exhaust seemed to be the solution.
I was able to find a Viper take off fairly cheap and bought it.
Mean while I read about the SX silencer mod and did that to it.
This also made a huge difference alone with the stock pipe.
Having bought the used viper set up I decided to install it on the V-max and run it into the modded silencer.
End result seems to be a smoother quieter and absolutely faster sled.
For comparison we ran the v-max against my Viper in 30mph roll on starts 500 ' blasts across a lake with minimal snow.
I couldn't believe how close they are now....The Viper appeared to only be able to crawl ahead by maybe a sled length.
Both of these sled have STOCK clutching. The v-max has reed spacers.
This sled will probably never see a dyno, but I AM tempted to do it to see what hp. gains were actually achieved.
