does anyone know if there are any diffrences between the guages on earlier vipers and later ones... i have an 02 viper er and am doing a summer project with it to make some power, and suspension. i have apex style bars on it and i was thinking of going to the newer style controls for the handle/thumb warmers, hi/lowbeam, and killswitch. i always thought the guages looked the same but i remember with the newer guages they display the warmers position when adjusting them, which was not an option in 02.

just wonderin if i would have to get a guage from a newer one to do it. if so i am assuming that the wiring is diffrent also, which would not be a problem since i was thinking of trying to use a later style wiring, and diffrent ecu anyways cause i may try to accomplish have an operable dcs when i do the project. thanks for the help

dcs models use the newer harness, gauge, warmer controls. not compatible unless you do a complete swap.

Apparently NOT a different harness. I bought an '02 Viper a few years back, with "1100" miles on it. When I would start it it would flash its "DCS light", and there would be a meter that showed the "handlebar warmers" settings. Being that this was my first sled in 20+years, I didn't think/know anything more about it, until I was riding w/ someone that had an '02 Viper since new, and noticed the slight differences in the gauges, along w/ the DCS and handwarmer gauge. I was the lucky one to buy the super rare sled w/ an '04 or newer gauge on it! All the other lights worked accordingly(hi/low beam, check engine, fuel, temperature). I swapped out w/ a correct '02 gauge just to make sure.

Apparently '02-'03 are the same. '04 on up are a different gauge slightly. But they will "Plug and Play".
