I have an 04 Viper and I think I read on a thread a while back that a well worth mod is to add a torque limiter. Does a torque limiter help with keeping your primary and secondary lined up or is it just to reduce the strain on the engine mounts? If anyone has any input on this I would appreciate it. What kind would you recommend?

It keeps the motor from flexing under power. This flexing is known to be hard on the viper mounts, which in turn breaks the mounts and causes premature belt wear. Get one from a SRX, the dogbone style. They used to but i cant remember where sell it as a kit for the viper. I have them on both of mine and one to install on my daughters viper project. Chris

i got mine off ebay for 20 bucks, bender racing sells them or you can go to your dealer and order all the parts off the microfiche

I got mine from hauck and its only 32.99 for the torque limiter. Can't beat that when bender racing wants 69.99 for theirs.

Thanks for the info. I unfortunately found them on SLP but I guess they need a slight modification to work on the viper. I'm going to see if I can find an SRX torque limiter.

The SRX dog bone style mount parts are all together in a kit for the Viper right in the accessory catalog. SXViper Engine Torque Limiter Kit: Yamaha part # SMA-ENGIN-ST-AY for $40.95.

Not too tough to install, but have to remove the primary clutch and then align everything after.

But recommended to order this part early as it sells out every year.
