How are you guys lifting your Vipers?

I'm looking into getting a snowmobile lift to do maintenance, but am concerned with lifting my viper with the side heat exchangers. What are you guys using that won't damage them? Type of lift? Or method?
 
look in tech pages if mem ory serves me right theyre my be something in there i have seen a post abouttem on here its under misscalaneous plans to build sled lift if i was smart enufff to post link i would
 
A good friend of mine built the lift shown in the tech pages it works great it does lift on the heat exchangers which worried me some when i first used it but my srx has been sitting on it for about a month now while i make various repairs so far no coolant dripping on the ground ;)! i have been keeping an eye on it to make sure no one sits on it or leans on it too much though
 
Placing a small piece of rubber, i.e. a cut up old inner tube; under the heat exchangers gives a little cushion as well.

My sled lift is similar to the one in the tech section which contacts the sled at the front of the bulkhead and HX. The lift points that contact the sled have 3/4" heater hose riveted to the lift.

Ive had the lift since '97 and it's seen all the mfgs including my Polaris' that use running board HXs. Depending on how far the lift is placed under the sled, the majority of the sled's weight rests on the bulkhead contact point.

I've yet to damage anything with mine and IMO, even without the rubber hose between the lift points and HX the weight that's placed on them isn't enough to cause any damage.

Just a heads up: I strap the sled to the lift when pulling motors because without the engine's weight, the sled gets tippy and the weight bias ends up in the rear. I also strap it down when pulling a skid/track just to keep it stable during tugging/cussing that takes place wrestling the skid out.

Your back will love you for bringing the sled to a workable height.
 
If the HX's can handle the abuse on the trail-- sticks, rocks, dirt, ruts, snow, ice, etc. They will be fine on the lift. I have the same style as the others & have never seen an issue.
 
i use a comalong on the rear bumper & 2 5 gallon buckits on the front skis.level it out & gets the sled about 3 1/2 ft maybe 4 ft off the ground ;)! .works great for motor work or changen a track ;)! .i been doing this for yrs & it's easy on the back when doing motor work.it's a chep left butt what the he[[ it WORKS.

I use a chain hoist and a cooler under the bulk head. But i would sure love a lift, im always workin on somthing to do with sleds.

On a lift with padding where the lift supports the excahngers. Works slick. My Apex GT is on lift right now, since last March it's been up there on the lift. Works just fine and hurts nothing.
 
I too have built the lift listed in the tech pages. We just use a little 2x4 between the lift and heat exchangers right now but I need to modify it. The newer sleds like my Apex Mtn kick up faster so I need something taller in the back for that.

But I do guarantee that sled lift plan in the tech pages will lift a fulled dressed Apex Mtn.

I love the lift, use it a lot, and SOO glad I have it.

There's a bunch of choices out there, but maybe I can get some feedback on brands or links to the good ones.
