I just scored this sweet little Phazer off Craigslist. I haven't had anything apart yet to look at it, but I did notice it has an AAEN pipe. Everything appears to be in working order, the seller thought it might need a rear shock. I got it for $475!! Oh, I just bought the truck in the picture too, but I'm way more excited about the sled... My wife says there's something wrong with that.... ;)

Im pretty sure they make a widening kit for the front end on those...the thing i remember most about our old phazer was how many times it rolled....haha. Or, when my old man was checking the plugs for spark and backed up fuel in the cylinder lit his hair on fire...oh good times.

What you guys think? I have my old proaction skid from my SX still, should put I that in this sled or find cheap x10? The proaction skid was rebuilt 2 year's ago and has been sitting a year now, so everything should still be good on it.

That thing looks really clean.

What do I think:) Pipe it, port it, flatslide carbs, 136 x 1.25 track wrapped around a decent rear suspension. Yep that's what I'd do :)

Actually had one set up that way (other than the decent rear suspension:() It was all sorts of fun.

Regarding your suspension question, I guess it's a matter of cost vs need/want. I personally hate every pro-action skid I've ever used/been on so I'd have a hard time putting one into anything even if I had it sitting on the shelf. But seeing as you already have it - it wouldn't cost you anything other than time.

Good input. Here's what I was thinking... 1.25 x 136 on either my old sx skid or an x10 skid with extentions. It has an Aaen pipe already so, I was going to add the flatslides, carbontech reeds and plastic skis, probably add some sort of handlebar extension as well.

There you go. Sounds like you have a plan. If you're interested in cutting on the cylinders I've got a set of the race-logic porting templates for that motor still. Give you a good deal on them if you're interested.

Other than a couple stickers on the other side that were scratched... nope. Everything seems to work on it. The original track is still in good shape, I could just ride it the way it is, but, what fun would that be... half the fun in getting an old sled is modding it!

OK I been slackin' in the photo takin' dept.... So here are some more pictures. I've got just about everything I need to put it back together. I still need to do something for the bumper, I was thinking of leaving it bolted to it's orginal mounts and just making it 8" longer to fit over the new extension. I'm also waiting for the center tunnel brackets, I'm having them reinforced, the welder has been busy. He gave me back the rear mounts. So I can install the skid. The skid is a 136" x10, I've pulled all the bearings everything looked good on it, so I just repacked the bearings and greased the fittings. I did have to grind some off the shafts to make the skid fit the narrower Phazer tunnel. It wasn't too bad to do, just take a little off at a time and measure a lot.

Here is the tunnel extension. I used an old tunnel from a XTC for a donor. The XTC tunnel is wider, so cut it down the middle & overlapped the two pieces. I'm going to bolt the bumper using the same bolt locations, but make the bumper 8" longer and add a third bracket to bolt to the tunnel extension. I riveted the extension in with the original brackets in the tunnel overlapping the extension for strength. I made the ext 8".

Here are a few pictures of the rear mounting bracket for the skid. I reinforced it so that the footrests won't flex so much. As I said earlier, I'm also having the center bracket reinforced. I drove a 1/2" aluminum rod into the curl in the foot rests, I tried a 3/8" first but it was loose, so I drove a 1/2"x48" in as far as it would go and cut off the mushroomed end. I started the rod by tappering it on the grinder first, since it's slightly bigger than the inside of the curl.

Here is the skid. I think it was a pretty good buy, $150 shipped on Ebay. It had the Fox shocks, they seem fine, since I spent my budget on everything already, I'll ride it the way it is this year and have them rebuilt next year. This is a pretty easy transplant, the rear mounts stay where they are and I had to move the front mount back 1-1/2".

Replacing the heavy metal skis with a pair of plastic saddleless skis from a 2009 Phazer. I've not seen anybody use the saddleless skis on a TSS, so I thought I'd try it, these are also an Ebay find. $100 with 6" carbides they have another season of use in them, these were close to home so I picked them up from the seller in my way to go hunting on a Saturday morning. I used a sonic multi tool to cut out the cross piece and trim out the bottom to fit the bumper and the ski bracket, used some washers to shim the ski, looks pretty good. I had to trim the bumper a bit too, because I didin't want to take too much out of the ski, and go through the bottom. I was amazed at how much lighter the plastic skis are compared to the old metal one.

I also purchased a set of flatslide carbs from a '94 600. If I can find the right cable for the right price on Ebay of if somebody has one, I'll hook up the oil pump. otherwise I'll pre-mix it, and add the cable when I find one. I'm going the start with 47.5 pilots and 150 mains, with the fuel screws at 1-1/2 turns. It came with an AAEN pipe.

I have 2" riser I'm going to see how that fits. Now I need to start putting things back together. Hopefully I'll get most of it done this weekend, I've got today and Monday off. I just hope my wife is in a good enough mood the leave me alone out there...

I dont know if it's just me but I Woudnt have paid for those brackets let alone put them on my sled to ride, those welds look really bad and don't even look like they are on the pipe/gusset and I would have at least made it so the threads were gone, I wish I had pics of my drop brackets I made, could just be I have an eye for protection in my welds/work... Good luck n hope they hold up looks good I have almost the same sled!!
