I have an 02 Viper w/8800 miles I want to freshen up. I have compression readings of 108 PTO and 122 on center and Mag cylinders with tthrottle wide open airbox off.The motor runs good aside from dirty carbs, no noises or knocks. I'm thinking time to do the top end? I know compression readings vary somewhat but what should I expect this motor to read new?? And is this a job I can do myself with the help of my service manual.Any tips? I've done alot of work on harley motors but not much on 2 strokes. I plan on using all oem parts (pistons rings bearing etc..)
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

deffinately need to replace pistons and rings seen 3 srx with 6000 and above that were ridden hard with broken pistonsbetween the rings on the exhaust port side was told that 5000 is a good time to freshen before u ruin a cylinder and or crank as far as compression ive seen 125-130psi on fresh motors. hope this helps im sure there are many others with more miles on here but its cheaper to do this now than to do a complete motor.
