adding reverse

Been through lots of blogs and found lots of people using different ideas on what kits to install and methods of operating. I want to put reverse on my 98 MSRX 700. Is the viper reverse kit the best with no mods, direct bolt up to my stock chain case, just want to put the cover plate and gear/lever and go. any one be able to tell me what year of viper kit works the best.
Thanks

Any year viper reverse will be a direct bolt on. Not exactly sure on the set up of a MSRX but the tech section has a great write up on installing a reverse on a SRX. The only other thing is it will change your gearing. Your MSRX is 21/39 and the viper will be 22/38. Someone else will have to help ya on the effects of that. And for the most part any proaction reverse will work on any proaction sled just the gearing will be different, and the older gears were a different type also so you cant mix and match.

my stock gearing is 23/39 right now, at a 22/38 will this slow me down or give me more top end, i'm set up with a 151 track so its a little heavy to lift.
wear could i find a complete kit, i live in ontario.

For the gearing effect one of the other guys will help ya, i dont know enough to say either way. Its slow around here being summer and extra slow being the 4th. So if ya dont get a answere in the next day just post again and it will send it to the top. As far as finding one i got mine here in the classifieds. If your lookin used about$ 325 - $400. $600 new. Just keep your eyes out and one will show up before winter here. Ill keep an eye out for ya also. Any yamaha dealer might be able to find ya one new if you ask them. Hope this helps, chris

thanks allot guys thats perfect info, just what i needed. well if anyone has a complete kit with all gears, chain, and lever please let me know and how much you want for it.

Thanks
