Hey Guys,
Need a little advice. Last season I had issues with my belt squeaking at idle. I couldn't figure out what the issue was. Here is what I tried so far
Center to center is spot on
New Belt
New spacer bolts on the secondary.
The belt just seems to be tight. If I spin the primary by hand I can hear the belt rubbing. I noticed some corrosion on the primary shaft. I wonder if it is not opening all the way? Is it safe to sand down the primary shaft? Engagement seems to be at the right rpm.
I tried making my own offset tool and will test offset tomorrow, but can offset cause the belt to squeak?

if all you did so far was center to center, it's highly probable the primary isn't square with the secondary which could certainly cause some squeal. hopefully your offset tool you made is long enough to check the offset front and back on the secondary. also you said new belt but what is it for a belt

DID YA TRY REMOVING THE WASHERS IN THE BACK OF THE SECONDARY. I AM ASSUMING THIS IS A 8DN. CENTER TO CENTER SPEC IS MORE CRITICAL THAN YOUR OFFSET WHEN YOU HAVE THIS PROBLEM, BUT ALL HAS TO BE IN SPEC. 3:16 (yammie tony)
Thanks for the tips. The belt is oem and no washers on the spacer bolts.

AND STILL SQUEALING ? 3:16 (yammie tony)
Yammie... Yea, its a head scratcher.... The only thing left is either a worn primary spring causing the primary to collapse or severe offset issues.

it could just be the new belt i had one that squealed a little at an idel change the belt that fixed my squeal
Belt has 400 miles on it, Still squeaks... The belt that was in it previously had the same squeal and was at roughly 50%. Happened after I rolled my sled trying to climb a 70° grade

Maybe the end of those 3 screws are worn down.

Even oem there are 2 belts, the newer style isn't beveled as much on the outer edge which makes a little difference also. I have seen some squeal with one and not the other, but them shims should still cure it.

GOOD POINT. THERE ARE TwO 8DN. 00 AND 01. I THINK THE 01 IS A TADE WIDER, BUT LENGTHS ARE THE SAME AND THATS WHAT usually CAUSES THE SQUEL. 3:16 (yammie tony)
