i have found my eleclectrical problem if i reach my hand inbetween the exhaust and wiggle the series of wires that go under the motor the lights come back on for a minute how do i get these wires out so i can look at them where do they unplug so i can pull them out i have the headlight speedo light and tach light all unpluged but i have no idea where to go from here when i wiggle the wire i dont see anywhere where it comes back up to unplug it and take it out of there

It comes out beside the carb rack.Remove pipes ,unplug at bumper and reach under there and open up the wire retainers.probably a good idea to remove carbs as well.

which side of sled i see a ton of wires on the side with a pull rope but when i wiggle and tug on that wire under the motor none of those ones move

You will need to remove the air box and carbs to get a good look at it. Then unplug at the hood hinge, tie a long string around the hinge end of harness and pull ot out. U will then be a le to pull ot back through with the string. The harness will run on the pull start side. Blueis right on.

They wont move with the steel wire holders still attached to the wire harness. You have to bend them over to let the wire go.You also will have a hard time seeing them it is a feal thru the grease and the oil and the weeds and grass......to find them.good luck

harness goes under the engine, disconnect the connections on the left side that plug the tach/lights.Tie a wire or rope to this end.Take pipes off and you will see the harness going down under, you have to unbend some tabs that keep harness in place..look down thru the steering linkage area and you will see tabs. You check everything over real good andwhen done, use the rope to pull it back thru.Check for rub thrus also under the handle bar pad.I had mice eat away my foam in place on 2 sleds and also ate thru the plastic covering wires..pissed me off of course.Trace along the CDI box on left side frame beside the gas tank and just try and follow all wires. You should find some bare or rub thru's somewhere.Have patience and check good.

You can see some of the harness on the left side in the photo..

This is a good example of ..more is less..work in the end when working on these old sleds. If the moter was pulled when you did the rings it would of been a good time to clean up the engine bay and cleanup fix and reroute wires.Replace the tierods on the steering arm and do the gas lines. The clutch should be removed every couple of years so the dont get stuck. And look closely at the hose the goes from the coolant tank to the water pump...it will be worn under the bracket that holds it down on the moter.

It goes on and on but the time is right,,,,summer!

When I repaired my harness, instead of running it back in the stock location, I wire loomed it and ran it over the carbs then up to the hinge attachment point.
