PowerMadd Oil Caddy
I just purchased a PowerMadd oil caddy. It is supposed to hold an extra litre(quart)of oil on the clutch side, bolted to the footrest. Well I went to install it into my 02 Viper ER, and the holes that they say should be there already, werent. So then I tried to position it, but it sits about 1.5" away from the secondary clutch. I am sure that the clutch will hit as the machine shifts.
Just wondering if anyone has tried to install one of these, and how they did it?

I installed mine on the chain case side of my '01 SXR. Didn't want oil caddy interfering with the secondary.

I just put one on my '02 sx viper and had the same questions are you do. I ended up puting it over on the other side by the parking brake. It didn't fit tucked down along side the chain case cover - thus I drilled a couple new holes in the top support bar and put it there (top bar on the chain case side - the caddy now sits right next to the parking brake). It fits tight but pretty good. Does not interfer with the parking brake cable movement at all.

speaking of powermadd parts and what not, I just purchased a pair of their hand guards. Let me tell you..... I would give the make/durability of the hand guard a B+. As far as the mounting hardware. I mine as well have taken my damn 20 bucks and bought some supplies and made my friggin own. This is the biggest piece o' garbage that I have ever seen/dealt with. Nothing is the right size, they give you spacers and what not that don't fit anywhere, their directions are the most horrible thing I have ever read (who reads directions you ask? When you can't figure out the first time, second and tenth time, tuck your tail and read the directions). Anyway, if anyone was wondering, I would never ever ever recommend buying these items based solely on the mounting hardware. Just my $.02
Sorry about the rant

Hmm I have the PowerMadd hand guards mounted on my 97 Indy 500. I bought the motorcycle mounts(by accident), and they fit nicely. Are you sure that you bought the right mount kit? that could make a huge difference.
I love my hand guards, and will be putting them onto my Viper now.
Oh, and for the oil holder, it should fit on the clutch side of my machine. I just have to reroute 1 wire, and trim some of the foam on the belly pan. I can't mount it on the chaincase side, because that is where the battery for the electric start is.

Caddy Placement
I recently installed one of those caddies on the clutch side 02 viper. The caddy must not interfear with belt removal when your belt comes over your secondary. Also remember your clutch does not move toward the caddy. You must cut away the foam thats glued to the bellypan and mount as close to the belly pan as possible. Even with this mount location the belt only has a 1/4 inch clearance or so to squeeze by the caddy but there is room. Also you have to drill your own mounting holes.

The PowerMadd ones are suppose to hold any brand of oil, I use Amsoil. Looks like this was made specifically for the Yamaha oil bottle.
