I looked at that helmet at Hay Days last year.I could flex the chin part on the helmet pressing with my hands.I don't think it would stand a hard impact.I would advise against it.I was just in a bad motorcycle accident and the helmet saved me.Sorry to be a preacher.

I can't speak from personal experience, but it seems to get great reviews as given here: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/6/6/17073/ITEM/AFX-FX-19-Multi-Helmet.aspx
What goggle set would you get for it?

Those look pretty sweet man, it wont fog up as it is designed for winter, that helmet on the other hand is MX style so I would question it's protection factor, A+ on the style though!

I have two buds that use them with the Scott 89Xi LS googles. Honestly, I know from motorcycle experience and lots of research on helmets, that the helmets that have "minute give" or "crumple zones" transfer less energy than rock solid helmets that "ring your bell." Fast Bikes, Performance Bikes, Cycle World, Motor Cyclist, BIKE, and lots of other publications of powersports have back issues available with alot of this info in it. IIRC Performance Bikes had an actual test amongst many leading manufacturers of helmets. Very informative. But either way to answer your question, I have the two friends as I mentioned earlier that use those helmets, one of which cased a drift and pummeled his chinbar on his handlebar, and had no damage to the helmet. However the handlebars were another story...

Did you end up buying the helmet? And btw those goggles look really nice, I might go for the MX style look this coming winter as well, seeing as I traded my dirt bike for an SRX 700, the colors of which match my MX helmet. Just need a nice pair of goggles now.

I use a closed face helmet and will for the foreseeable future. I love the look of the 509's though. The only thing i do know is that the few guys i know that have them say it is very important to match the helmet to the goggles. otherwise its a nitemare in any weather that gets cold or windy. Face falls off.

Yeah I can imagine that. I suppose it is more of a cool factor than anything. The cool factor cannot be denied.

Yeah I agree, I might purchase those goggles you listed and wear them with my MX helmet! I think it would look awesome with my blue / silver helmet and would match my SRX nicely.

I've been thinking about switching to an MX style this year and keeping the full face for when it gets real cold out.

Hey tip any report on the helmet s/u? Just wonndering. I was actually giving some thought to a mx style and gogles for the warm days riding the local river. Afx was a highly recommended helmet on many google searches. The fx 17 Is supposed to be the same as the 509 evolution for a hundo cheaper and the sinisters are a perfect fit. Any thoughts?
