Hey guys... When it cools down a little I'll be attacking my skid, inspecting, packing and replacing any worn bearing. Other then new bearing are there any special tools I need to remove and install the bearings? Bearing pullers come cheap, what about getting them re-installed? Socket and a mallet?

Socket and mallet always work for me, removing and install.

dont forget to add a few cheap hardware store bolts used as sacrificial beating points for the socket and mallet, especially removing the center bogies, if the proper tools arent available.

When Installing the new bearing put the new bearing in the freezer for a couple hours and the wheel in the oven on low temp. They almost fall into the hole.

I agree bluemonster, I just picked one up for under 200 bucks and I'll never smash a bearing into place again. I can get an old bearing out and replaced in under a minute and have no fear of damaging anything.

Another tip I've found if you don't have a press. Save one of your old bearings to use as a drift when driving in your new bearing. Just be careful and take it slow. If you drive it too far it can get stuck. I lightly sanded the outer edge of the old bearing to make it slightly undersized and it works great.
