Take a look at this sled and let me know if they are in the "ballpark" with their asking price.
How does this sled perform if riden hard on tight, twisty woods trails?
What quick mods can be done to improve handling / braking / acceleration?
I am a little concerned about the miles but Nick Keller, the guy that has done the 20K mile/yr cancer ride has over 40K miles on his and it is still going strong. What are your opinions of the miles? It is a one owner and the guy that owned it did take very good care of it. The shop has all the maintenance records as well.

I think it's in the ballpark, I'd maybe offer them 4,000 if your serious about it. As far as the motors go with that miles it's no big deal. But you have to remember the skid, jackshaft and everything else, unless maintained are probably gonna need some work soon. Valve adjustment is recommended by Yamaha at 12,000 miles so that will be coming up too.
Buy it, love it, ride it.
I've got the Apex Mtn, so same motor.

Its a fair price but its only the asking price... should be able to get it around 4200. I would check out the skid and track to see if those have been service and or replaced.
Also you would get better answers to your questions on the 4stroke side.
You can get the 4 strokes to handle great, it just take some time on them to fit your riding style... many mods can be done.... clutching all the way to Turbos..

Would love to have a turbo...some day
Back on topic, I can answer many questions you may have about the four stroke. I've pretty much had that whole chassis apart except for talking the motor out and seperating the bulkhead.
I have done everything that SXlover hasn't

I've looked the sled over pretty thuroughly and the previous owner did a really good job of keeping the sled clean and maintained. The track is studded but it doesn't look like it was abused and I don't see a single stud that is bent or broken. The dealership has all the maintenance records for what they did to it. From the looks of their records the owner had it in every fall for a once-over and tune up. They are even willing to give me the previous owners name and # to call and ask him questions about the sled.

The only thing that keeps me from buying the sled today is not knowing how a 136" handles in tight, twisty trails. That's what I ride and I usually ride them pretty hard. I am really used to the slot car feel of my SX and really don't want to give that up.

It wont be like an SX, its hard to get that feel out of any new sled today. I can get them to run close but it will take some time. I can tell you this, the mono shock will make you forget about the back beating of the SX skid...LOL
