Heel Clickers vs 8bu-10 (Whats better for trails)

Although I never tried 8bu-10's, just 8bu-00 I prefer heelclickers. If you put alot of weight in the tip and heel only, it will be almost as snappy as a snocross sled, with the right springs and helix. I'm probably going back to heelclickers, I have the #5 hauck kit now, wich I have tuned for top end only.

E.T? And how do the 8dn-20's compare to 8bu-10's, can they compete on acceleration when setup?
 
In that case seems like the best all around weight, I thought 8dn-20 would be, but if you can get good back shift, acceleration and top end with 8bu-10 then..... sweet!
 
get them dialed in and you are in for a treat.Was getting very close to dialing mine in towards the end of last winter/Noticed better pull and top end was increasing..but blew some windows off my track and didn't want to risk an all out River run at that time.
 
Nice! I was going to go with the popular 8dn-20 setup, which granted, would be cheaper than buying new 8bu-10 weights, sounds like it might be worth it though. Guess I thought they wouldn't provide as much back shift, how difficult are they to get setup properly compared to stock weights?

Of course I meant the 8bu-10's,not the 8DN's in the above statement..but the 8DN's can be set up for all around decent running..
 
Getting those weights can be a problem though. I ordered a new set from my local dealer back around the first part of July. 1 weight came in within a week, the other 2 are on back order till late September. In my experience though, Yammi tends to release parts before the date they say the stuff will be available. No snow flying in September so no big deal anyway. :dunno:

Instead of purchasing from your local Yamaha dealer try the online dealer at portyamaha.com great prices and service! ;)!

Yeah exactly, I'm just trying to justify the $100 for a set of 8bu-10 weights, as opposed to staying with the stock 8dn-20 and loading it up. Any improvement on top end with 8bu-10, and I heard back shift is worse than 8dn-20?
 
LaPorte, thanks for the suggestion. Will keep it in mind for future use. As I said, no snow flying in September so not that worried about it yet. I happen to have a GREAT relationship with the guys at my local dealer and have known them for well over 20 years. They help me in ways that a few dollars in savings couldn't possibly cover. I also believe very strongly in supporting the local dealerships, especially in these tough economic times. If there is no customer loyalty these local shops won't be around very long. Sorry if I got off topic.
 
If u do a lot of groomed trail and lake riding go with the 8BU's. If you are off trail riding more go 8DN-20s or heelclickers. As for the 8BU's, might as well get them and try them out. If your thinking about it now, you will end up doing it anyway down the line. You own an SRX, you're always gonna wonder if you can make it even faster! :rulez:

I hear ya about supporting the local dealers!

Corey, good point about the speed deal, I heard 8dn-20's are good on top end when set up. My problem with 8bu-10 is I see setups with 4500 RPM engagement, bad gas mileage. Why such a high engagement, and would it be a dog in a foot of powder?
