What position on the head is the intake side? 10:00 facing the engine from the front?

When I used to be a part of an ASA stock car team we did it to all the race motors because the engine builder told us that we had to to get max HP out of the motor. So, several of us tried with our sleds and didn't really seem to notice any difference.

on a 2 stroke it's useless. 4 strokes can benifit from doing it if your looking for every last horsepower.

because of the multiple transfer ports in the cyl. walls of a 2 stroke, the electrode can be just about anywhere & still work the same. On a 4 stroke you want to point the electrode toward the intake valve. I did it a few times on the srx, I don't think you see any difference, maybe on a dyno, but definately not on the trail.
