thinking im gonna long track to a 136 this year, i have heard of suspensions/extensions being broke and/or bent easily for aggressive riders. i ask because i ride aggressive and find myself alot using my power to throttle the front end over bad situations which lets the tail of the suspension take a beating in rough trail. I kinda like the idea of these kits from oft with tipped up rails like some of the newer sleds.

wondering if anyone can confirm the horror stories or let me know its bull, i dont know of anyone who has had problems but always have heard of "people" having trouble. any opinions/recomendations ??? thanks

i have been using rail extensions for years on multiple sleds and have never had an issue. mine have always been from hartman inc. dont know if that makes a difference or not.
the oft ones are sweet looking, but will they fit your rails?
next debate that usually arises is extending the hyfax or not.
i have never used the extended hyfax styled and again havent had any issues. but, i rarely ride trails and most of my riding is off trail and deep snow.

not sure about fitment on the viper, but i do have a nytro here to put em on, but i have compared the ends of the rails a little and they look like as far as design and size at the rear where the extension mounts it may work. if i get em i will be sure to see how they line up, if they dont i still have the nytro to use it on so i won't really be out anything

I've had the 136" kit from Hartman w/ the Hyfax extensions. No issues w/ the craftsmanship and fit. Nothing but trails and lake riding.

Thats a good, durable looking extension. 2 years ago I put on a set of Tracks USA 144 extensions . I do quite a bit of jumping, etc around home here and have had no issues so far. I think a lot of guys have had issues with the cheaper, lighter built extensions bending and breaking but those OFT and Tracks USA ones are built pretty strong. I wouldn't be worried about putting a set on.

I kinda thought the same, and I also think it may have just been stories never dying from years ago. I remember people saying that when they had brand new v max's in like 95. suspensions have came a long way since then so I suspect the stories are just old ones but thought I would check here since ive never done a conversion mylelf. Thanks for the info

I would opt for a full 136" skid myself. I ran Hartman ext's, they never broke, but I found they made the sled ride even worse than before ( i was never happy with the pro-action) because they the leverage piont of the rear axle in relation to the shock. Just my opinion. I run a 136" Cat skid now, Completely better sled. I would never go back. I ride my buddies viper now & it feels like i need to join the PBR circuit. (Bull Riders)

X2 from me. Put it on before last season and love it. I cant vouch for a differnt skid tho... too much $ and time for me at this point. I do know it does ride better than my dads 121 viper as well.02ViperMody44 said:I've had the 136" kit from Hartman w/ the Hyfax extensions. No issues w/ the craftsmanship and fit. Thats one thing I wondered is if there was much of a difference between an extension, and a 136 suspension as far as ride, and handling. As for the proaction I think is going down the road. I have another nytro suspension im sure will find its way into the viper after I finish other projects and get em out of my working area. So it will be the same suspension no matter what sled I put it on.

There is a better chance of bending your factory rails than rail extensions.I have like 7000 hard miles on Tracks Usa extensions on my m-10.

i can vouch for the OFT rails. have them on my phazer. aggressive riding & ditch banging/jumping. very good quality & customer service. met them at haydays last year & they are great people.
which ever company you go with, it is a wise investment.
