Power coating would be the best, but i just used automotive paint then clear coat. Good prep, lots of thin coats should hold up pretty well. In the tech section their are codes to match up the paint pretty close. Under misc section i think.

I used Duplicolor paint. First I had them sandblasted, then good primer, paint, then clear coat. I sanded after priming (1000 grit) then wet sanded 1500 grit and used polishing compound (with my powerball) after the paint and clear. Turned out awsome. Try to find one of those restore-it-all type places for your sandblasting(only charged me $20) and if you check with the autobody supply places many can mix and put any color paint in an aresol can for you. I had a "buddy's" bodyshop do a previous sled and for 2 springs and 2 a arms cost me $250. I did all 4 of my springs and both arms myself this time. It cost me $80 including the sandblasting.

aren't there plastic covers that one can put on instead.Even with a good paint job,ice chips and snow flying against them will eventually chip the paint.I would love to find some Blue Covers that snap over them.Tried some running board trim but it fell off..need the real deal hear.Does someone have any idea where one could find such coverings??

Cheap plastic broom handles work and come in a nice blue doug .
Go to auto zone and buy tape, thats what we do, you can get it in carbon fiber, chrome and others. It's about 4'' wide so it covers it all and it's very durable.

I used running board trim on all mine, but i zip tie the ends in matching colors and they have stayed put so far. The zip ties are just enough to keep them on i think.

Sorry for the hijack here:
Hey super, I am pretty sure I know your exact problem! I'm guessing no matter what page you go to in the technical pages the URL doesn't change, right? So even if your were to copy and paste it the result would simply be: http://totallyamaha.com/ but not the exact page you were on. The problem is that the website isn't generating the proper URL for where you are browsing (for some reason beyond me) so here is the way to get around that: instead of going to the technical pages from the homepage http://totallyamaha.com/ click on TY Tech from http://totallyamaha.com/forums and from there it will start generating the proper URL (once again for a reason beyond me, but somehow I found out that it works!) I hope this helps! Please report back!
