Now that i have e start on the daughters viper i was just going to run the electric shield straight to the battery. I was thinking of putting a inline fuse in just to protect from short. What size fuse should i go with? Or do i even need one? Thanks, chris

wouldn't think you would need one..but you are going direct to battery..as long as there is no surge of voltage all of a sudden.A fuse may come in handy. What rating is the visor..amps that is.. I connected mine to the blue wire under handle bar pads..the wire runs to brake light..
Now I have the BRP Helmet..I don't need the electric anymore..I am fog free now..

Yea my other 2 are also hooked to that wire with no problems. Just though it would be just as easy and save me from cutting into those wires if i ran it to the battery. Ill have to see if i can find the visor amps and go from their. Not an electrical guy for the most part so didnt know if i had to run a certain amp fuse or not.

If I remember correctly the heated shield draws 3 amps. I have a 10 amp fuse on mine and seems to work out all right. When you install the inline fuse, install it as close to the power source as you can. This will give you the most protection on that circuit.

For the fun of it seeing i learned how to measure amps on my multimeter i hooked up my shields and measured the amps. I came up with a continuous draw of 1.3 amps on all 3 of my gmax44s heated shields. So from the info i found it said about 10% +/-. So that comes out to be about 1.6 amp draw. Which when i do the math 1.6 x 12 (for 12v system) that equals 19.2watts. I did find that the heated shields are 20-25 watts so my meter measurement and math seem right. So once you find your amps you round up to next fuse size which would be 2amp. I have a bunch of 5amp fuses laying around so ill probably just use those.
