Anyone know of any decent power adders that can be bolted on to the SRX. It would appear that, according to the forum at least, nothing aftermarket succesfully makes more power for the srx.

The list below is normally tagged by forumites as being a power loss or waste of money. Did yamaha do that good of a job of making the perfect sled?

Can
Reeds
Boost Bottle
Cold Air Intake
Reed Valves
Pipes

This list excludes of course trail porting and clutching.

Yamaha had there homework done on the SRX as far power goes, not really much you can do to a stock motor other than porting it to make more power

I think there is head mod you can do but not sure others will chime in also :2strokes:

Reed spacers do make about 1.5hp on the dyno but unless you find them cheap or make your own there not wort it for the price.

Weird, you left out the two things that will give you a power gain.

the way i read his original post is that it was already understood that trail porting and clutching would give you power. the question seemed to be more geared around bolt ons. of course i could be way wrong ;)!

but i will agree with yamigod. the list you gave will only rob power. porting , traction, and clutching are the way to go for power gains on a srx

I think he did include those two things, plus clutching does give increased performance, not power. Clutching gives better delivery / efficiency / use of the power it already has, which can be increased by trail porting.

Terrible bang for your buck with those mods, an aftermarket can will lose hp most noticeably on top end because of the lack of back pressure! You will lose mph as many people can attest to.

I'm still not totally sold on the can losing hp just yet, some yes, but have had just as high speed #'s with can as stock, I think the bender performs well, and the hauck race growlers, you lose weight as well. weight is speed, especially with my big a.. on it.

You do lose weight, maybe 8 or 9 lbs, but you certainly do not gain hp, you will likely lose some. Many people feel as though they have gained power because it makes your sled sound more mean and faster: it is just a mental thing. If I remember correctly a member on here went back to their stock can and had an over rev on top = more power.

While weight does lug down the motor and therefore rob the hp it is making to a point, 8-9 lbs will not overcome the loss in back pressure from it being more lightweight, which will lose mph upstairs.

all my mods are bender racing mods proven to run harder and quicker some like other peeps mods turk has lots of good tips im happy with my set up 14,000 miles never burned down new rings every 4000 mi and engine tear down every 2nd year so far it's all good and rode more than any other sled i have so it's up to the rider what makes ya happy
