well my project is getting close to the finish (trying to get done before the snow flies) & just thought i would show what i've done so far.

thanks to yammiegod3:16 & shrader for the help & pointers along the way.

motor work,
ported jugs & intake, shaved heads, 102c, & have the stock carb on for now,
exhaust not sure what what i'm going to do.

suspension,
133" skid w/ 1" track, still needing to extend the tunnel & figure out if i want to use to stock seat or make a small custom one.

also straighten'd the handlebars & sprayed windshield black.

more pics on the way

nice build. you may want to consider adding some riser blocks between the ski mounts and the spindles. this will even out the ride.

i have done similar from the 109's to 121's. 133 should be fun.

the tunnel extensions are pretty straight forward, i just made a template and had a fab shop bend it up. some strategic welds in the corners of the bends at the snow flap mount and a custom bumper and your good to go.

here's the start of the extension

bought it used from a guy near me. he had it on craigslist for $50. all i did was put some casters on it so i can move it easy.
it's got a 4ft long crank handle that slips onto the front.

it says "rec-lift" on it.

there's sled lift plans in the tech section too. I built mine with scrap metal I had kicking around, just bought the jack. and they lift easier then alot of the bought ones

sleds coming along nice xt gt

i added a socket to mine and use the air ratchet with an extension. saves alot of cranking time.

Awsome work, Ive got a lead on old exciter i would love to build up like that. would love to see it in action out in the deep stuff...

i think i'm done with the suspension work now. unless something else i think of.
some shots of it sitting down w/ 2" blocks in the front to even out the rake. looks kinda goofy but we'll see if it work out. definantly have more ground clearance thats for sure.

here's a shot of the engine w/ stock carb on it. i have plans to get a different carb but will leave it like this just in case i don't get around to it before winter.

That's pretty cool, make's me want to mod up the 81. Is the skid you put in there out of an arctic cat? Wonder if it would be possible to put twin pipe's and twin carb's on these oldie's! ;)!

not sure what the skid is out of. i'll do some searching to see if i can find something close.
as for the twin pipes & carbs, yes it's been done. not me, but seen many exciters from the northern wis. vintage series races.

Pretty sure I saw on here somewhere that you can use an intake and dual carb's off a phazer? But who know's maybe it would be best to just leave it alone and keep the reliability.

here is a few shots of my sled all finished up. ran around the yard a little on saturday when we got 5".

walk around video to follow.
