i am wanting to get new head lights on my 01 SRX and want to know what could happen if i get a bulb with a 100 watt hi beam and a 55 watt low beam. the stock ones are 60 hi and 55 low. would it just burn out, and melt stuff???
I would stick to stock. The sled is only capable of 300 watt, and that is from a healthy stator. Hit the brighter and you are only leaving 100 watts to run the rest of the sled.
A couple of bucks

Most definately YES. The most I would go safely would be 60/65.

i truly believe the last sled i bought has a damaged stator because the previous owner did this ...
i put stock bulbs now in but sometimes she still acts up quite a bit!!! sometimes my lights just dim, then come back on , im gonna be doing a stator someday!!!

Either stick with stock or install some relays. Eastern Beaver www.easternbeaver.com sells plug and play relay kits. Easy to install. You can run SLIGHTLY higher watt bulbs then.
I HAVE USED BOTH they are both great . some say silverstar are sort lived but if you cant see you are short lived . we put in a sliverstar in a ski poo , wow blast me away . now it sucks when he follows me . as i have mirrorsConstip8r said:thanks, i though it was a bad idea, but its nice to know others imputs. and Fortuna should i buy the Sylvania ones or the nighthawk, i want the brightest bulbs i can get that wont effect my sled

Use PIAA. They have a high output and low power consumption.

I would stay away from the GT-X tho. Awesome at night but very hard to see them during the day.
