Are all the SRX 700 cases the same no matter what the year? I see one part number for the 98 and 99s, and a different part number for the 2000 - 2002.

NO 98 and 99 are not the same as 00-02. The difference is a single vs a double bearing groove at least. There may be other things as well.

the bolt holes for the pickup coil are in slightly different spots.

There is a brand new case on e-bay which posted today. I contacted the seller and it is for a 88 or 89 (which it didn't specify in the add). There is a buy it now price on it for under $200 if anyone is interested.

MikeSr, you can alot of times repair a case if you have the usual pressure cracks in the bottom section from debris getting smashed in there via the connecting rod from a burndown/blow up. I clean them very well with lots of brake clean and then tig weld the crack. You just have to weld slowly to avoid warping the case half. Clean off the inside with a sanding roll and your good to go.
