For the past 4 years, my son and I have done all of our sledding in northern NH. We always seem to find new trails and even riding on the same trails is always a blast. Spending top quality with my son, enjoying something we both love to do is absolutely the best!!!

Prior to 2004, and when my son was to young to ride his own sled, I did all of my sledding in Quebec. All of my trips from 1990 through 2003 were saddlebag trips where we would spend 4 to 10 nights on the trail logging anywhere from 1000 to 2200 miles. The trips were always terrific, excellent trail conditions, really nice people, terrific scenery and with the currency exchange the average trip cost was moderate.

My son wants to experience Quebec sledding so I began to take a look at the costs of a trip. Since he is still in school, good ole dad will have to fund the majority of the trip costs. After figuring out the costs, I came to the conclusion I can't afford a 5 night trip for us this year in Quebec. The grand total for a 5 night, 1200 mile trip for the two of us would be about $2200. The round trip for us by truck to the sledding starting point is about 800 miles so the diesel fule cost is a good chunk. I did not realize the Quebec trail passes wnet up in price so much since 2003, $300 per sled.

Good thing we are happy to ride in northern NH, looks like we will be doing that again this year with maybe a saddlebag trip for 1 or two nights into Maine. One season I hope to get back to Quebec, i love the trip around the Gaspe penninsula.

i am so glad i went on the trips while I could afford them.

no matter what your hobbies, cost of anything is skyrocketed. Seems like a 100 dollar bill everytime I leave the driveway. Fuel, parts, clothes, groceries, etc., etc.

Really anywhere you ride will still be way cool. Its about the Quality time with your son that he and you will remember. Thats why i did the viper with my daughter. I know i will never forget it and i hope she wont either. Your trips sound really fun for sure! Keep em up!
