I just picked up an absolutely mint 98 srx 700 from the orignial owner with 1198 miles on it for $1400.(even has all the original docs and service records from every yearly tune-up).Oh and the dealer replaced the entire engine in 2000 for the crank issue, is there a way to tell if its a 98 engine or a 2000?

The guy i bought it from said he did some stuff to it when he first bought it but could not remember what all has been done.(prob 75-80yrs old!) Anyone in the northern il, southern wisconsin area want to help me figure it out?

From what I can see it has v force 2 reeds with spacers, some sort of bender helix, a 1.25 ripsaw track that i would be suprised if it had 50 miles on it, and a cold air kit. Are these good mods or no?

It seems to engage early for a clutch kit 37-3800rpm??

Also thinking about changing track to a studded 1in so if anyone has a good condition studded track and wants to trade???

Lastly what should be done as far as maint? I did clean the p-valves and carbs, pulled the harness and retaped and covered it to prevent chaffing. I want this thing to last a while sense it it basically just broken in...

I bought this sled for my girlfriend so she can keep up with me but now im thinking shes going to fly by me and if i can get a little better suspension i might just keep this for myself and give her my sled!

how often should this be done i am the second owner of a sx500r and it has like 4000 on it. should i do it? ( never done before by me)

The motor should be a '98-'99 vintage as the stators are different from '00 on up, the electronics are also different '00-up because of the dual beam headlamp.
