Ebay sellers and combined shipping

I am looking at buying a couple of Raybestos brake hoses for the front of my Silverado and found a seller on Ebay with both and the prices are less than half what I can buy them for here.So I email the place to see about combined shipping for the 2 hoses I mean why should it cost almost $14 to ship both and the reply I get is some BS about Ebay and them not being set up for it yet.Why would it be up to Ebay whether a seller can offer combined shipping or not?
 

try carparts.com i have seen some good deals on there and I bet they combine shipping
 
Its because of all the a-hole scammers on ebay...
If you put two items in one box, you can only PROVE that you shipped one item. People claim they only receive one, then paypal puts a judgement against you, and refunds the money...been there.
I don't mind buying on ebay and combining shipping, but I am hesitant to ship combined.
 
All they have to do is for you to do the transaction and buy both items, payfor them including shipping and they refund you the money for one of the items shipping. I've done this with sevreal venders on there when buying multiple items. It protects the vender from scams and the tracking proves the package got to you.
 
all the seller has to do is purchase 2 delivery confirmations for the same box. I have done this before..
 
Thanks for the replies guys,I even tried another seller with the same stuff for sale and they don't combine shipping either.I didn't bother to reply back and ask the particulars why I will most likely go through Rock Auto as I have already priced the stuff from them before looking on Ebay to start with.With the extras I'd have to pay in shipping with Ebay I wouldn't be saving much at all.
