Picking up an 00 SRX tomorrow that has one issue I could see, the blue high beam indicator light stays on when you click the switch. Is this just a faulty switch? Appreciate any experience or feedback. It's going to join my 02 Viper in the family! Sweet looking rides!

I have no idea what to look for, can you put in layman's terms. Is it a switch or what?

I think he's asking if you've checked the out-put of the dimmer switch with a volt meter to see a change when cycling the switch. I don't believe there any known issues with the switch so it isn't as easy as condemning it without performing some checks.

As for the harness rub-through - it can cause many different phantom symptoms so it's a good place to start when trying to find an electrical issue. You may be able to confirm the rub through is the cause by wiggle testing (tug, twist, pull) the harness while watching the light but the best thing to do is pull the harness and inspect. Other places to look for a rub-through/short to ground is above the footwells and handle bar area. Basically follow the harnesses bumper to bumper and look for areas of the harness that contact metal. Twist the harness to get a good look at the area of contact looking for damage to the harness wrap and the insulation of the wires.

If the insualtion of wire is worn through and bare wire is exposed but not broken, clean the area with alcohol, apply some silicone or liquid tape to the exposed area, wrap the harness and protect it with split convolute or heater hose. If the wire is broken or fraid, solder splice it back together and seal the joint with either a double wall/adheasive shrink tube or silocone/liquid tape.

It appears to be a common problem on many pro-action chassis and if the harness hasn't been inspected I wouldn't go any further until the harness has had a good once over.
