Hi,

I want to get the springs off my Ohlins shocks I bought for my 99 SRX.

I bought a shock compressor, put the Ohlins in there, but when rotate the long arm of the compressor, at about 1 o'clock it hits the frame for the piggyback shock. The spring retainer is loose at this position, but cannot be slid far enough towards the center of the shock to remove it.

Any suggestions?

Front shock should not need a spring compressor. Just like YA*AM*A*HEAD said, just unscrew the locking collars and it will slide off by hand. Only shock that needs a compressor is the big rear skid shock. A flat screwdriver and a rubber mallet will unscrew those collars enough to make them loose and the rest by hand.

Ok thanks..I thought there might be too much pressure on those retaining rings but I managed to back them off all the way with a pipe wrench and the retainer on the other side popped right off..thanks for the help!
