best place/price on a replacement track. one fella told me I.had to go thur a yamaha dealer n get the yokohama track again or change the cloggs... let me knw guys. thanks

You will have to switch to 3 pitch drivers and get a 141 powder claw which is one of the best tracks available.
Or get some rail extensions to go to a 144" track and you can stay with the 2.52" drivers.

anything besides the yoko is an improvement. 144 is easily done with an 8" wheel kit. 151's 156's or 159's work well. there are some good 141's out there in the 2.52 pitch, look for anything from camoplast. doo and cat ran some in the late 90's/early 2000's

personally i think the powderclaw is a bad fit with the taller lugs and reduced driver size to make it fit. the mountain viper skid and track is a direct bolt in and works well.

So if I went with the wheel kit, is that just the rear 4 bogies on the sled? I found some 144 with the 2.52 pitch. Im looking for a track with smaller lugs so I can trail with it without ripping all the lugs off of it. I personally cannot find a single track that fits other than the yoko. 15x141 on that sled right? quoted from a yamaha dealer today for $1200. He looked everything up and agreed that the yoko was the only fit without changing things around. Thanks fort the info fellas.

how small of lug are you looking to run? i may have a 1.5 or 1.75, cant remember, would have to look. may even lead you in the right direction for maker and model, once i find it. not an oem track, one i aquired years after the introduction of the 141.

give bruce vruwink a call at tracks usa. there were several tracks from cat and doo that were in the 1+" range in 141 2.52 pitch. he may be able to serve or send you looking for the right one.

yes on the big wheel kit as far as the 4 rear bogies. you could even drop to the three wheel or even 2 wheel configuration depending on riding style. yes, your track is a 15x141x2.52, but yoko wasnt the only one making them. the yokos were a 2" lug, there are others out there in smaller lugs.

in fact, yamaha had a service bulletin out in 00 or 01 with an alternate track for people using the mtn max in low snow conditions offering the 141 in a 1"+ lug. dont recall the manufacturer, but i think i can find the tech info if needed.

could I remove skid n drill the holes back a few inches n eat up the rest wiyh rear axle. talked to tracksusa n they got nothing like im looking for. anybody.ever done this? please let me knw what is imvolved

Wheel kits more expensive than rail extensions. Get the 141 to 144 extensions from tracks usa or Hartman's and get a Ripsaw in 144x15x1.25. Camo part # 9006. They also have an Ice Attack Track in 144x15x1.06, but looks like it is stud-tipped lug style track. Never seen one before so don't know how well they hold up.

Don't go makin your tunnel swiss cheese for no reason. You'll regret it. Rail extensions are the easiest way to do it, in my opinion.

If all you are looking for is a shorter lug and there is nothing wrong with the current one, just trim it to the height you want.

Otherwise, if you are swapping tracks go with a 144. Like has been said, a little rail extension will eat up the difference, or since you'll have it apart to swap the track, swap to a set of extrovert style drivers. Reality is that you can probably run the 144 on the 141 rails and eat up the difference with the track adjusters, but by going to the toothed drivers you will eliminate any issues due to the extra length.

hey fellas, well im gonna do the.extentions. my drivers r a little worn. was wundering in used drivers can.be pressed on or if its a one time deal. also, will a shaft outta a 99 srx fit my sled? I can get one with very low miles, but.will it fit?

drivers can be pressed on and off without any problems, unless they are kimpex without the metal reinforcing collar. you just need to make sure the timing marks line up.

yes, the 99 srx shaft will fit your sled but the 01 you have in there will be the upgraded stronger version of those shafts. the drivers will be different. your mtn max will have 8 tooth and the srx will have 9t, so your pressing them off anyway. sounds like not much to gain to me, and probably a loss.
