I'm swapping a 1984 enticer 300 engine into a 1988 chassis and the wiring for the cdi is different. Any body have a wiring diagram or any advice on where to proceed? Thanks.

do you have the origonal motor to steal the stator from? then it would be plug and play. are the plugs even the same? if they are i would just try it 1st as most of the older yamaha air cools ran a similar cdi.

I have both complete motors. I got it kinda running but backfires and won't rev up. The sleds call for different heat range plugs, so maybe the stator swap is the way to go here.

that is what i would try 1st. visually check the crank seal while you are there as it would be a good time to replace it if it looks bad or if it has not been done to your knowlege.
