trying to get my srx ready for grass drags next weekend. sold my bored carbs I ran last year and was planning on running a mach-z rack I had. started cleaning those and noticed the air screws in the mouth of the carb are gone. so figured I'd try a set of TM38s I have. got them all cleaned and set up but I can't get full throttle out of them. I've turned the adjusters all the way out and you'd still need another 1/4 inch or so. when I pull the cable to where I do get fully open and let off the throttle lever it doesn't close all the way. it's like the srx throttle lever doesn't have enough throw to run these. anybody use these and know what to do.

I ran TMX 38s on one of my 700SXs as well as a Mod VMAX4 and I just replaced the throttle lever with one I picked up from either Hauck or HPE...can't remember as it was many years ago.

Can't get enough fuel through a set of stocks carbs to fuel it? I have a throttle lever from a old exciter 88-89 is the throw longer on that. Ask valin how he got by that problem on his 780

he runs a mach-z rack. no problem on those. the tm38s are individual carbs. I'll probably have to run a stock rack for next weekend. as it is they're putting me in the mod 800 class because of the 780. pump gas trail sled in an anything goes class. I don't need any more disadvantages.
I have a shaved track with 1 studs so I will be in some bs class

Bob, were you running premix or did the a.m. lever still have provisions for the oil pump cable?

If I remember right, you take your stock throttle lever off and put a small pin to take up the slop due to the tors. I use a rivet shaft, its about the right diameter. Just have to cut to length. This seems to open mach z carbs all the way with stock cable. Also I think you with have better luck with bored stock carbs on a 700. Just my 2 cents. I may have a set for sale if you need some.

sxr-x, that took care of my full throttle issue, thank you.
now i have a venting question. the tm38's have a vent on the bowls, and 2 on the sides of the carb body. the bowl connections had a short tube on them and appear to just have been dangling below the carbs as usual. the side connections all tied into a common line and were tie-wrapped up the throttle cable. should this remain venting under the hood or continue to outside the hood up to the handle bars?

I have a stock throttle for my 780 sled that has been shaved back a bit to give it more pull. the lever is also cut back plus the mounting block. I will post picks later.

I kept my injection cable intact...Its all come back to me now...I used the complete throttle block, lever and kill switch included off a 540 VMAX as it is pulling 38mm roundslides on the 540s so it worked well with the 38 flatslides.

we were just looking at doing that earlier tonight. pinning the tors allowed me to get full throttle but then it wont come back to idle. id like to see your pics so I can see how you did it.
