I was only looking for a rear spring off a Viper ER, the stiffer one (3.0 - 5.0), but came across a deal on the whole shock and spring, take off of 02 Viper ER , i am 220+gear, how harsh of a ride would it be over my revalved & lengthen SRX shock...........James

The are pretty stiff but bearable if you dont have a bad back. Dont buy them if you are looking for a plush ride.

2002 viper shocks are really stiff!
I bought a 2003 viper which had the same shocks as the orginal 02 viper. Anyway's the ride was so stiff I couldn't stand it anymore. I took the sled back and demanded that yamaha put in the up-grade under warranty. They did that and boy what a difference it made. It was a night and day difference. I actually enjoy riding the viper now.

I go around 230#'s and I loved the Viper Nonrevalved in my srx. Great for the real aggressive rider.

the big difference is the seat, these shocks in a srx or sx are ok as the seats on these sleds are very soft and dampen the peaks of the impacts.
if you change the seat foam in your viper seat you will be amazed at the sled.

Put the rear shocks on my 700MM. I am a pretty agressive rider and they really made a difference. Soc
Yup That Friggin Seat
I am in the "seat is the problem" camp.

My 110# wife has a 02' Viper with the non-revalved shocks and loves it. I set the FRA to the firmest setting, Set the transfer rods to the maximum transfer, and softened the front springs 2 turns. She keeps right with me riding a Viper-s in all but the roughest of conditions. If you ride reasonably hard you will like the shocks.
