I need to remove the primary clutch on my ss440 to remove the engine to replace the crank seals. My problem is that I am an idiot who is always looking to save money and so I made my own puller. Well I screwed it up and now half my "puller" is stuck inside the clutch and its not coming out unless I can get the clutch off.
So is there any way to remove the clutch without the puller and without damaging the clutch?
I know its a long stretch but i'm hoping someone can help me out with this.
Thanks
Luke

depending on how much of your "puller' is left in there, you can get the appropriate sized bolt to fit the threads on the clutch, wrap it with some teflon tape, roll the sled on its side and fill the clutch bolt cavity with water and try some hydraulics to pop it off.
this will work assuming the bolt has enough room before hitting your homemade debris.

Wow that worked wonderfully. Thank you so much for that suggestion. You saved me the cost of a new clutch because I was about ready to get out the torch. lol
Thank again your a life saver.

glad it worked. amazing how much pressure.
had a guy bring his polaris in last week having done similar to what you tried with the homemade puller. he couldnt believe how easily his clutch popped off either. we actually had air bubbles bleeding past the six or so wraps of teflon just before the clutch came off.
i am almost thinking water and bolts vs clutch pullers.

Ya mine was stuck on pretty good my original home made puller consisted of a 3/8 inch rod of mild steel and it got crushed into a little ball which was jamed in the hole. So I applied enough pressure to crush that but the clutch still didn't pop off. Even with your trick I had to pry behind the clutch a little before it popped off. It took a lot of pressure to get it off that's for sure
