As some of you know I lost a head gasket the other day and hydro-locked the motor trying to start it. She hit pretty hard. Visual inspection, the rod looked ok, but without being able to mic the full length of the rod it could still be bent. I won't know until I get every thing back together this coming Tuesday. Should my compression be off, I can only assume a bent rod. If that is the case, how do I got about getting something like this fixed? Is this a DIY project? can the rod be separated from the crank or is it all pressed together?
If pressed, can anyone recommend a good crank shop, local to Wisconsin who can do the work.

I have seen more than one srx crank that had a not bent but more of a twisted rod, you can not replace it yourself, I have a new rod kit on the shelf if you need it.
Thanks sxr, I may take you up on that can you pm me the details? How about a shop that can get it done?

This guy worked for Yamaha doing the warranty work back in 98, 99 when every crank in every SRX needed to be welded and trued.

X2 for Jeff at Midwest. He serviced a cranks for my 2000 SRX which had a meltdown and is checking out a crank for another SRX engine I am building.
Crank work is definitely not a DIY project unless you have the experience and tools.
