Hi guys, new SRX member here. I have a stupid question about the gasket between the power valve housing and the cylinder. I ordered all new parts to seal up everthing and new cables because old ones were fraying but I did not notice direction of gasket. If you look close at gasket there is a bevel which makes inside stick up just a little bit, does that go towards cylinder or housing? Maybe it doesnt matter but thought I would ask all the gurus for advice. I am sure I have plenty more questions because last time I worked on one of these was about 15 years ago when my sled didnt have power valves.
I do have 1 more Q, when adjusting valves, I want 2.5mm clearance between cable housing and power valve housing while engine is running, right? Where should I initially set cable before start or just leave loose?
Thanks, blueice

Will do but it doesnt say anything about gasket direction.

There is nothing stated in the SRX service manual about the orientation of the power valve body gasket. I have never paid attention to the orientation of this gasket and have not had any problems with leaks or power valve operation.

I know exactly what you mean, and Ive wondered about that myself. Last time I took them all out, I put the "dent" towards the engine...

This is my first time and when I took it apart I didnt notice it either but I installed them all towards engine. Probably doesnt really matter. Atleast they are all new. I even had to replace 2 of the cable holders because previous owner was running all 3 without any of o-rings so they egg shaped the holes. Yamaha was only able to find 2 holders in whole country and B.O. in Japan.
