Was just slowly going over the viper for the winter.... And I was looking in the fuel tank and there is little gold specs laying on the bottom of the tank ... What from? I dont want that going threw my fresh carbs!!!!

most likely just sediment from the gas and stuff you get from the pump but could be off the fuel filter. You can unbolt the tank and clean it out and install a new fuel filter if its never had one. You have to fish the filter with a hanger or somethin and hold the hose with a set of long hemostats, yamaha saved $.01 by cutting the hose about a inch too short....

X2 - Not so previlent here in the North, but in the S.W. states it's common for gas stations to hog out the spin on fuel filters to avoid weekly maintenance replacements. Yup, they're fuel can be that dirty with New Mexico being the worst. It's standard practice to change fuel filters at 10k miles.

dont forget the long hemostats or youll be saying cuss words loudly after the hose falls back into the tank and you have to try and fish it back up....lol

When I changed my fuel filter I just took the line off at the fuel pump.
Grab the filter with a coat hanger and remove. Then when ready to
install just put the hanger into the fuel line, insert into tank and out
the hole by fuel pump. Pull the hanger thru until you can grab the fuel line.
They cut the line to short do do it the other way.
