I know I've seen this somewhere but what are the thoughts of removing the air box assembly and replacing it with 3 2.5" 90 degree pipes and 2.5" cone filters perched on top? Should make more power... right? As long as you reject for the extra air, no problems on burn downs?

Sounds good in theory, I've never understand how you would recalculate the change in jetting necessary when you alter the air flow. I have heard a Holtzman compensator works well. But yes you would definitely need to re jet!

How many mod do you have done to the engine? The stock boxes flow really well! We run a modified yamaha air box on our bigbores with pipes and 38 mm carbs with no air flow restrictions.

Remember that a 90 degree pipe is like adding 6-10 foot of pipe to the flow. Unless you have some big mods done it isn't worth the tunning hassle that you will have.

Leave the stock airbox on there.
