08 Phazer tunnel cover

I just bought an 08 phazer MTX (only 81 original miles), I hear there is a problem with ice forming in the rear of the tunnel due to the open section below the exhaust. I'm thinking of covering this, but heard I had to remove the plastics around the seat permanently. Is there some way I can keep the original plastics? I want to maintain the original look of the sled.

Check out the Four Stroke Side

You may have better luck on the 4 stroke side, I havent even been up close to one of those.
