So wrenching on my little beauty this afternoon...the 2000srx I just had to buy cus these don't come for sale too often in my town. As part of her rehab I needed to change the track. Using the useful right-up in the tech section I dug right in, never having cracked a chaincase before. I immediately noticed some circular scoring on the cover, at the bottom, consistent with the bottom gear. There was however no metal in the case and it was quite clean aside from the browny/grey' goop in the bottom. I did notice the bottom gear just seemed to hang there....didn't seem right since there wasn't anything on the cover to "hold"it in place. So sure enough....I check the fiche and ta da...why is there no bolt there ? I've seen sleds abused but cmon this is rediculous....the sled has a cracked bulkhead, crapped out skid, broken motor mount, seized fuel screw, wrong spark plugs....and I can go on. Would you have noticed the big oily bolt you had left over after putting the cover on?
Sorry for the rant...anyone got a bottom bolt, and I assume a washer for sale...lol...that being said though, I just love working on here....hope the motor is ok ?
Here's a picture of the ugly old gal before(still sexy looking).

should keep you busy while we wait for snow!! good luck with it!!
Hope you got a deal on it. You might be into more $'s when you dig into the motor, seals, bearings, clutches, suspension, etc. if there was that much noticeable neglect so far.
