Just wondering how warm the primary should get. Almost too hot to touch. It's always been like this since new. 98 MM600.
Clutches are always clean, aligned, great belt life.
Machine works great but curious if something can be improved on.

Sounds like belt slippin, usually what gets em too hot. You seem to be doin the right things ie cleanin and alignment. Is the belt gettin shiny on the sides? Is it time for new belt? Are you hitting optimum RPM? Is your primary bushing OK?
I am not familiar w MM600 so I am not sure on setup requirements.
I ride MM700 and had prob w/ hot clutches. I dropped the gearing, went more aggressive with primary weights, and more aggressive multi helix in the secondary. I am set up for mountain/pow not trails or lake speed.
Since droppping the gears it upshift waay faster and I was able to carry more weight in the primary to hold optimum Rs on steep climbs, the secondary was changed to match shifting characteristics and prevent to much belt grab in the secondary (on the edge of slippin).
I'm in Central Ab as well, where do you ride?
