Wondering if a sleeve is a cost effective alternative to getting a replate. Replate runs around 190 a cylinder with. I can get sleeves for 90. Any downside to this? They also have oversize sleeve to bring it up to a 740 for only a few bucks more.

Numbers don't sound right to me. Total cost to buy sleeve, bore, intall, port match..
all for $90?
all for $90?
Does not include bore. Sleeves come ported.

a sleeved cly cant get rid of heat like a plated cly . is that not one reason they got rid of them

you have to bore out your old cylinder to install a sleeve, have someone install the sleeve, then the cylinder must be ported to match the new port opening in the sleeve, so all of that work/labor will be on top of the $90 sleeve. Youll be far better off to just have the cylinder replated or buy a used one.
A steel sleeve will retain heat and will need richer jetting to keep the piston from over heating, the nicasil coated aluminum cylinder does a much better job at removing heat and transfer it to the cooling system.

I have read that sleeves are ok provided all the holes are done and not mixed, also good if your running lots of nitros oxide. personally i would go with plating ,much harder and better heat displacement. .
