All, I have an interesting problem with my 98 SRX and hoping someone on the forum has an idea what to do. The water pump impeller bolt backed off and the impeller ground into the cover and caused a nice leak.
To fix it, all I need is the impeller, washer, and a new cover, but my concern is that bolt and impeller shrapnel circulating in the cooling system.
Aside from totally removing everything in the cooling system and cleaning, is there any other way to get that out of there, and for that matter, would it make a difference? It was a good runner prior to this happening.

be easiest to unhook the rear coolant exchanger and flush it out on both sides.
