I bought a mono shock skid over the weekend and and in the process of tearing it down to see what kind of shape the bushings etc are in and wondered about the big wheel kit the guy I bought it from had installed. It is the offset axle type with the 8" wheels but only on the outside it still has the stock diameter wheels on the inside;would you not normally change the 2 inside ones to 8" as well?Even if it's with plastic aftermarket ones?To me it isn't taking full advantage of the larger wheels by having smaller/stock ones in the middle.

There are big wheel kits designed for 8" outer and 7" inners.

All four need to be 8". The two 7" inside wouldnt be doing anything.
Usually the inner wheels are offset so you can run smaller wheels. They only touch on the bottom so they give support underneath. Go to Royal Distributing's online catalog and look at their big wheel kit and read the description. The inner wheels are smaller and plain black plastic.

it's going to be a super, super tight fit if you are still running the stock 9 tooth

I just looked at royal distributing catalog. I simply cant understand the logic of having 8" and 7" diameter wheels on the axle. The catalog shows all four at 8" inch. Don't confuse the OEM column showing 7". The front axle has four drivers of the same diameter and the rear axle should match with four wheels same size. Now a drag racer different story may want to remove the center wheels to cut down on drag and increase efficiency.

There are billet axle kits out there that allow you to run the 8" wheels on the outside and the factory size wheels on the inside. I had a kit like this from MPI.

I have a kit that uses all 8in. I have used the other version and they work fine, the centers touch the bottom only where they are needed and keep the track centered. The only drawback is the looks are odd.

Ran MMP freedom axles in my polaris skids. No problems. Worked great and has a little bling factor to it.

If your going to long track it at all you can get tracks usa rail extensions designed to run 4 8" wheels on the factory shaft. I had the offset axle and was not impressed at all. The track bows.

It really surprised me that it stayed on Kijjii as long as it did I figured it would be gone before I got to go look at it.
An NB TY ride would be great.
