After reading 1000 times that you should clean the carbs every season, I figured I would try it on my father in laws sled before I do mine. So, I took off the carbs and did everything stated in the tech section. After putting everything back together and thinking, wow that wasnt all that bad, I decide to start up the viper to see it run. Fired it up and sounded really good. I wrapped the throttle a few time and VOOOOOOM off it went without a rider.

I ran it down in a big hurry and hit the kill switch. After looking at everything it looks like the TORS switch and spring came apart and lodged in the throttle cam.

Really dumb move on my part for not lifting up the back end. Anyhow, can someone tell me how this spring and switch goes back together and is there a setting on it.

Thanks in advance

Using your father in laws sled as a test bed to improve your skills before working on your own sled and almost destroying it! Priceless!

I actually never remove that spring so not sure what to tell you.

LMFAO couldn't agree more!

I wonder if your father in laws sled will mysteriously, somehow now be slower than yours. Hmmm???

Don't feel so bad, a good friend decided to clean the carbs on his son's phazer 500 for the first time. Got it all done and pulled the cord..... It sped right out of the garage (riderless) , full throttle across the driveway, and into the side of his Grand Cherokee Limited. Not such a good day for him.... ;)!

about 10 yrs ago my buddy picked up a polaris big bored indy drag sled. we were all there to see the maiden launch across the lawn. he pulled the cord and we saw the launch across the lawn.....across the neighboring feild....across the neighbors lawn.....across the neighbors driveway....and into the neighbors garage. all with my buddy running behind it like he was going to catch it...lol in hindsight he should of hooked the tether to him

When I used to have my 175 Tri-moto years back..was riding and all of a sudden the throttle stuck wot on me.It was a wake up and hanging on for dear life..finally realized to hit the kill switch.I guess the carb slide froze up on me..this was during the winter also.Lucky I was riding around the river and no trees close to me.Would of hated to have jumped off and let it go till it flipped somewhere....lol

Wow, so I looked at the throttle stop this morning to see how the throttle cam got stuck. On the throttle stop the bottom spring is held in place with a nut in the center. If that nut works loose and you dont know it, the spring will pop off when you engauge the throttle and the TORS switch and spring jam the throttle cam. Unless I am incorrect somewhere, this could kill someone.
