Working on my buddies srx the other night and the noticed that the reeds didn't seem to have the much tension. The sled is a little doggy down low off idle. I cleaned the carbs and it helped alot because the one pilot was clogged but I still doesn't have that snappy feel like my srx? Just wondering what people thought on this topic. Would boysen reeds be a good replacement?

Yes they do wear out and they crack/chip as well. If the sled has over 2,500 miles on it or is 4-5 years old or more it would be worth changing the reeds. If the sled is stock then the stock reeds are more worth the money than aftermarket but if it has had some of the "tweaks" done to it like those on the Turk's Tech Pages then you may want to use some aftermarket reeds to enhance the "tweaks" that were made.

If they r in good shape, you can flip them over sometimes. Remove petals from block, & flip over. Hold them down & see if they have better tension. But if they r worn, or old, they may only last one season like this before they flex the other way again.
