really really really dumb question.... i messed up today and was adjusting my throttle free play and stupid me had a brain fart and was adjusting the choke cable instead... 2000 sxr 700.. I understand that the free play should be like 1 mm or so(i have a book, but i have to look) but what is the correct way to measure free play on the choke? im lost with this. do i open the choke all the way and measure? how the heck do i measure free play in choke? i imagine im checking free play down by the choke locking nut, but what is the procedure to check this free play? do i move that piece where the choke cable is hooked to up and down w/my fingers(piece by the carbs) and loosen or tighten until i hit the 1mm mark? and if so, do i do this with the choke lever open or closed? im really dumb when it comes to this...thanks

as long as the lever has some movement on it before it opens chock.Same as throttle. You adjust the cable to have just a tad of slack.Open choke all the way with lever..then push down a little more on purpose and keep eyes on choke plungers..do they still want to open a little more ??If so..adjust the cable a tad more. When choke lever is closed completely..wiggle the choke lever a little and keep eye on where cable attaches at carb.If the choke does not open..then your slack is good. You want just enough slack on the lever but still want plungers to open fully.Clear as mud???
